This page is a short summary of how Clok uses cookies. The full cookie policy lives inside our combined Privacy and Cookie Policy, section 6.
1. The categories we use
- Strictly necessary. A single HTTP-only, secure session cookie set when you sign in. Without it you can't stay logged in. Under PECR these are exempt from consent because they're essential to deliver the service you asked for.
- Functional. Small preferences we remember on your device only — your email address (if you tick “Remember my email”), dark/light mode, and how you've chosen to group lists. These never leave your browser. You can refuse them via the banner or the toggle below.
- Analytical / performance. Lightweight first-party usage stats stored on our own servers (e.g. which pages people open) so we can improve Clok. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising pixels or social trackers.
2. What we actually store on your device
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| access_token | HTTP cookie | Necessary | Keeps you signed in. Secure, HTTP-only, expires with your session. |
| clok-cookie-consent | localStorage | Necessary | Records the choice you made on the banner so we don't pester you again. |
| theme | localStorage | Functional | Remembers whether you prefer dark or light mode. |
| work_tracker_remember_email | localStorage | Functional | Pre-fills your email on the login form if you tick “Remember my email”. |
